1. I can read Erma Bombeck books several times and still laugh my head off at the funny parts everytime I come across it.- Dh cannot understand how the same jokes can have me laughing aloud everysingle time I read it.


2. I miss the lovely 'chaat' that you get to snack upon in India, especially in Bombay. I love pani puri, bhel, aaloo chaat , chinese dosa etc...


3. I have atleast 6 dresses ironed and ready to wear at all times. I love impulsive outings and like to be ready at all times.


4. I try my hand at every craft I come across- ofcourse not all attempts are successful.


5. I love comedy shows.- Friends, Bill Cosby Show, According to Jim , and many other funny movies new and old

6. I think Saree is the one of the ultimate Elegant outfit.- Although I don't wear it often , I think it's the classiest one .

7. I just cannot resist popping bubble wrap.

Telephone Wire Baskets
Creativity has no limits! And there seem to be new things all the time. Well, atleast this is one new to me. I came across this site today and It's the first time I heard of baskets made from telephone wires - speak about recycling ! These are really amazing , have a look .

What I've been upto
I've been Mia for sometime ....... not in a crochet rut (Thank God!) . And I've finally found the camera as well. And yes I'm still at the unpacking and settling in - I seriously wonder whether people everunpack every single thing and put it away in a proper place when they move or do they keep some stuff packed until they move again just because those things aren't really needed urgently ? Just wondering .......I'm thinking of actually doing it.
Oh yes , coming back to why I'm not blogging regularly , I'm having a whole of guests coming and it has been such fun. A lot of work and tiring too but great fun. I like having people over and entertaining guests and yes cooking too for big groups! Dh thinks I'm just nuts if I enjoy all this work.
On the crochet front , just finished posting off three exchang packages. Sorry I had to post the packages before I found the camera so no pictures to show. I had also included little Christmas tree ornaments ( my own little pattern - again nothing original and it had a few beads too) which I wanted to take pictures of .....but the Camera chose to remain hidden ! I'm also working on a lace edging for a dupatta for my really sweet aunt and I'm working with black thread in size 20. It's been not so easy and since the the lace is 9 yards ,it's taking forever to do.I was thinking of adding in beads but I'm not so sure now.

Mums are special, always!

Wishing all my 'Mom' bloggers a wonderful Mothers Day. I feel that everyday is a Mother's Day since we all work so hard at the job of being a Mom.And ofcourse our rewards are greater than any other- the love of our little ones to whom we are always special. This morning my little fella was telling his friend that Mom is the bravest and knows 'everything' !!!! - do I need to say that it was a lovely start to my day!?!

I've been blogging for over a year and have come across many wonderful fellow bloggers and online freinds who besides being wonderful people are also so thoughful about others, especially the less fortunate ones. Vik of ' Like Grandma ' blog is one such wonderful blogger. I've always believed that every single step( however small )in thje right direction always counts....no matter the result. Taking the initiative to do the even teensiest thing that can make someone happy or atleast cheer up a little is far, far better than just sitting back and watching while time and opportunity fly by. I believe that there is no better time than now!

I'm back !
Hi again to all my blog friends. I finally got internet connection and I'm glad to be back online. Finally the moving is over and now I'm going through the setting up and settling in process. But I must say that I already love my new home. And the best part is that now I have my own craft room...yay!!!!
I'm just popping in to let you all know that back online but can't stay on for long as there is just too much left to doand can't put off the work....well, as you can imagine !
Ofcourse, I'm still crocheting....every single day- very little but still at it to keep myself sane. So I do have some nearly finished projects. Ofcourse , I'll post those once I can unpack my camera...:).

Here I come , The city of Gardens!

So we are all set, packed and ready to move. Now it's the packers and Movers to handle the bigger and delicate items . It's been difficult having all our stuff packed off until God alone knows when I get around to unpacking the numerous cartons- atleast we have a bag of toys for the little fella and my current projects kept aside on top to keep me sane.
I'm hoping to have the telephone lines , cable and internet set up soon enough. So , if I'm missing in action for a few days you can be sure that I haven't got the internet connection. Once I do , I'll rush back immediately to catch up on everything that I missed.
Is it just me or does everybody feels all jittery before moving ? I can't seem to relax .....it's exciting and scary ..... please pray that everything goes fine.

Ballerina dishcloth

This is the dishcloth I made for my dishcloth exchange a while back but couldn't post a picture because I was waiting for the puffy to reach my partner. Finally I got a word from her that she received it. And here I am with my show and tell....lol!

It was an easy enough and fast pattern to work.

Looks like I'm in the dishcloth mode suddenly. I've signed up for 3 dishcloth exchanges and already have the first one ready to be posted. I know ....with the moving and things , I shouldn't keep these diversions , but then what can a girl do when she is so tired? Crochet ,ofcourse!

I came across a very interesting and sweet pattern today at Anna's blog . It's a teapot cozy pattern and cute as ever. And as always, Anna's talents always amaze me. Such wonderful creations. Do check it out. It's already on my to do list. And looks like it's going to a friend who is very fond of tea.

Nordstrom Hobo Bag

I had seen a post about this bag at the C'ville sometime back and had been smitten by it ever since.I checked out Dao Lam's Blog - Just One More Line for the pattern , yes ,its a free pattern. I couldn't stop drooling over it. I had to make it right away. But I had to find purse handles first!

I had waited all this time to get the purse handles. But as I've been telling time and time again , there are hardly any craft supplies available in this country. Strange thing, because in this place , UAE, you get all kinds of things from all over the world- except yarn, hooks,pattern books , craft supplies etc ! Why ? I wonder!

Anyways, finally , after repeatedly failing to get purse handles , I decided to just get on with it and make the bag and make crocheted straps for it.And here is the picture of my bag. And maroon and burgundy are colours I cannot resist. I used a velvet ribbon in beige gold.

This bag was fun to make and I know I'll be making many more of these. I like the pattern simple and elegant. I used Red Heart super saver yarn . But the next time I'm intending to add a little twist - maybe hook up come nylon and acrylic yarn together.

Looks like it's mail time for me . I'm receiving all my exchanges and it is such fun. I love exchanges......it's so wonderful to see things made by different people . Yes, this the beautiful purse that I got from Shaheen for the purse exchange at the Crochet Mania. This exchange was so much fun . Shaheen also put in this lovely soft yarn and wooden rings . Looks like more bags are added to my 'things to make' list. Its done in black crochet cotton and the design is just simple beautiful. The deatils are not clearly visible in the picture. Fine design is quite difficult to show in black, especially in a picture ( esp for a photographer like me lol! )

Note the lovely beads that she has incorporated in the design. And it is her very own design. A job well done and I'm happy to be the proud owner.

Goodies in the Mail !

This morning I was greeted by this lovely puffy from Christina . Thankyou Christina for this lovely package. The dish cloth is so pretty and the colours are so good . I just love that cotton yarn you've used. I've never seen anything like it out here . Maybe this is the sugar n cream yarn everybody talks about on the web. Now I know why it is called that.
And there was some more yarn totally new to me and absolutely delicious! The yarn is called Soft Delight by Yarn Bee. The colour is an amazing fushia . And the yarn is so soft too. I cannot decide what would be good enough to use this yarn to make . Any ideas? It's so soft and I can't stop petting it. I want to make something really special with it.

Well, on the non - crochet front, I'm still preparing for the move. It's endless packing and sorting which is so totally boring. I can't wait until I'm at my new house all settled and can sit back and get along with crocheting and blogging without having the guilt of ignoring important work. lol! Right now, I call it ' taking a break'. But it's fun not so much crocheting when my favourite place to crochet ( my cozy arm chair ) is packed away to be moved.
Just a note to my blog friends , I might be offline for a few days as soon as I move , for a 2-3 weeks until I can get the internet connection all set up. But on the bright side , I'll actually get the new house in order sooner and maybe even finish off a few projects .

We are moving ! ( thats my excuse for being a bad blogger )
To a new house and city. And yes, I am both, excited and apprehensive at the thought of it. But one thing I'm very sure of is that I don't like the process of packing and winding up things. It's tiresome to say the least !!! But on the positive side, the excitement of being in a new place, meeting new people and making new friends is very motivating. I love meeting people and making friends .....I like company.

So as you can guess, I have been busy packing up all the stuff and getting rid of all the accumulated junk over the years - makes me wonder what insane ideas possessed me to save up so much trash !!!!!

On the crochet front , I have a few more projects done. I managed to squeeze in time to crochet a bit everyday. It relaxes me so much and makes me calm down too. And I have more projects off my hooks ..... yay!
These are the hand towels to go with the Arabian Bath set I've been working on. And ofcourse my favourite flower pattern has to be a part of it.










And the cushion covers too to match the set- for the loveseat in the bathroom ! Many more projects are done too but I cannot put up the pictures of those until my exchange partners receive them.

Finally ! I can post again on my Blog.
So gald that I can access my blog again. I was so worried that I would have to lose my blog...but then luckily that's not the case. I had such nioce wishes from my online family for the bloggiversay and I'm so sorry that I could not respond sooner . Anyways , I'm glad that things are settled now. I missed blogging :) .

MY FIRST BLOGIVERSARY !!
Yes , it's been a wonderful blogging year already. Can u believe that? It feels like just a couple of months to me :). Lol ! Speak about time flying! I wanted to celebrate this day but looks like I'll have to postpone it.
I'll be putting put a little contest soon...as soon as blogger is more cooperative with me ( hope fully within a couple of weeks). Besides I'm still wrestling with a horrible cold and cough to think straight at all.
And I'd like to thank all of my special blog friends who visit me here and and leave such wonderful and motivating comments. I've learn't so much from you all. Its been wonderful to find this great online family .

1. I never measure anything while cooking , just put in the ingredients according to my guess....okay, I'm not a bad cook - it just sounds like that!

The days go by soooo fast ....it's already been 5 days of working.Yay ! This is my first weekend. And I'm enjoying evey minute of it . I made an early start to the day , had breakfast and read the weekly magazine, crocheted for an hour and now here I am at the PC blogging. lol!
The day I returned from India I was greeted with a job offer. And in my holiday daze , quite apparently, I was not thinking straight. I had been considering going back to work sometime soon, but not immediately. I actually rushed off for the interview on the very same day. I didn't even stop to think how I'd handle home, work and my little trouble maker.Yes, I got the job and now I'm a kinder garten teacher! And to top it all , I agreed to off from the very next day.
Not surprising at all that I'm going nuts trying to juggle the home front , my kiddie & hubby ( who are both terribly used to having my full undivided attention) , unpacking, work and crochet !!!! But I must admit I'm enjoying teaching again.
Ofcourse, even though so much remains to be done , I'm back to crocheting from day one. No big project but just some simple towel edgings. I had not crocheted at all during my one monh trip except just once during a 10 hrs drive and was bored to tears. Dh couldn't take it more and needed to get some sleep ...so he actually begged me to crochet. lol!! He thinks that's it's the one thing that keeps me out of trouble ( if only he knew- how much I spent on supplies this time !!!!)
This year I decided not make any new resolutions....I'm sticking with the old ones- finishing off the remaining WIPs and Learning to Knit. Lets see how that goes.

Happy 2007 ! A good start to the year.
Wishing you all a wonderful New Year! I'm back from my vacation in India. New year brings new things and changes. I have a job now - and I'm happy that its going great. I'm teaching kindergarten and so totally loving it. I started work as soon as I got back . that's why I've not been able to be much on the pc.
We also have a newcomer in the family- a sweet sister in law - my brother got married last month. And oh we had so much fun......so many things to tell about that....I'll get back to it later. Meanwhile , I'll say that my new SIL is just so sweet and great fun . We had some good time together and yes, the best part - SHE CROCHETS TOO !!! Yay! Finally someone in the family who I can talk crochet with.
I have my bloggiversary coming up soon.It really is shocking how quickly a year can fly by. It's almost a year since I started blogging. Wow! A year of rambling on .....and so many projects . Makes me happy.
