Is this lace I'm knitting ????
Yay ! Finally managed to knit lace. My very first lace knitting .....I'm so thrilled. This was a project which was a through and through learning experience for me. Now ofcourse for those of you who are accomplished and pro at knitting his would seem like a joke. But this one had me frogging constantly at the lace part. No matter how hard I tried I messed it up. Something, somewhere always went wrong and mostly it was the counting. I've never had such a complex before.
Anyways, persistence pays and I kept trying, hoping , frogging on and on. Finally , I think even God felt bad for me ..lol! I was at this Book shop and I came across a little packet with a row counter. I had never seen one but I thought maybe it would help. And believe me it did. Once I slid it on my knitting needle and started working on my lace it was a breeze! Not once did I have to frog it out and I didn't even use a lifeline.
Most important of all , I lost the fear of knitting lace- I'm on my next lace knit project.
I learnt how to use circular needles- even though the pattern calls for straight needles , I had to use circs because thats the one that worked best for the yarn.
I learned to seam the knitted sleeves- which I was not very good at .
I learn't that persistence pays off.
So here it is my first lace knit project : Elizabeth Zimmerman's February baby sweater.

Thanks Lindsay ! I feel like I've accomplished a great feat, atleast the struggle was great...lol!
what a cute adaptation of the February Lady sweater! Beautiful work Yasmin!! Love the color!
Oops! Sorry I thought it was based on the February Lady Sweater! Lol - silly me! But it's mind-blowing nevertheless! :)
Thank you, Amrita. Actually the February Lady sweater is an adaptation of this baby sweater by Elizabeth Zimmerman.
I had origanally started working on the Feb Lady Sweater ( high ambitions for a beginner ...lol ) but couldn't get it right. so then I thought of doing the baby version as a learning experience. I'm glad that I did.
Oh that's interesting! Is the Feb Lady sweater very tough? I wanted to try knitting it but since I too am a beginner knitter, I have my apprehensions....
Bravo!! This sweater turned out super cute:)
Amrita , The Feb lady sweater is not all that tough, just that I picked it up when I wasn't ready for it. I was really new to knitting and had to learn a lot before I could tackle an adult wearable project. But now I don't think I'll have problems with it. I'm already knitting a sweater for myself and a lace one too.
Thank you, Preeti. You encouraged me all along and inspired me too.
Oh goodie then I should give it a try soon! Wow, which sweater are you knitting for yourself now?
wow...your sweater looks pretty
Hey Dts really beautiful. I know i m repeating the comments all said before, bt cant help appreciate it. I too wanna try my hand at knitting, bt just dnt feel yet ready for dt. I find the starting part only difficult, rest i've done the right and wrong stitches. Later came to knw, like in crochet there are many other types of stitches in knitting too... well pray for me dt u as inspiration i too start knitting someday soon.
Amrita , I'm knitting Liesl by Ysolda. Just the sleeves to go but I"m just learning a new knitting technique that want to use to make the sleeves. So that's why the project is on hold for now.
Thank you , Nima. Good to see you here.
Samira, Knitting is one thing I was scared to try. It needs a little positive attitude and patience . You'll love it one you get the hang of it. Trust me , it's not as difficult as it seems or sounds.
There can be alot of useful information found in you tube. Those videos are excellent resources for learning.
