International Crochet Day

Wishing all crocheters on INTERNATIONAL CROCHET DAY. It was yesterday on 12th September and I'm sorry about being a day late in my wishes.Since yesterday was friday and it being the holy month of ramadan -it was impossible to find time to blog.
In honour of this day I contributed atiny share to spreading the love and art of Crochet.
1. My first batch of crocheted charity items for the homeless in India was delivered and from what I hear was well appreciated too.
2. I did a little crocheting in the local mall and got a couple of ladies interested enough to want to learn crochet from me. Hoping to get to start classes with them soon.
3. Taught a couple of my neighborhood kids and my own kid finger crochet- they loved it and I enjoyed it so much!
I know it's hardly a drop in the ocean ( but I'd like to think it's at least a drop after all !)but then since crochet is hardly known out here let alone crocheters ...it's nice to know that there are people who are interested . And I'm happy that I can spread the art of crochet a little.

You have been such a loyal crocheter Yasmin! Good to know you had some ladies and kids interested :)
I really didn't get out to promote crochet in any way...I thought I'd just do it some other day. No one here would notice anyway - but I still hope I'd meet some new crochet buddies, since our group at the children's hospital already fell apart several months ago...
There was also some excitement going on at the CLF group on Ravelry. Laurie, the founder, managed to get our CLF book published on International Crochet Day!

Pearlin, that's great news ! Just finding people interested in crochet is such a treat ...I know the feeling! I hope things work out for you .
Swapnae, I'm a member of knitting for the homeless blog( www.knittingforthehomeless.blogspot.com). It's giving things away to the homeless in an anonymous way. I pass on some of my crocheted stuff like hats and shawls and wraps etc to my SIL in India and she hands them out to the street dwellers.
Mimi , Congratulations on having your patterns on the CLF book. I read about it in you blog but my comment is not going through. So sorry to hear about the children's hospital group falling apart. I was such a good cause...I hope soon something else along the same lines comes up.

Sounds like you had a great day.

I would love to learn crochet from you if you are setting up classes.

Thank you Preeti, Charmaine . The two of you inspire me to keep trying my hand at knitting- and yes, I too wish we could meet soon someday.
Thanks for vising me , Lisa. And yes, I would love to teach you crochet. We'll have to try to work it out somehow:)

That is so very kind of you.. Yasmin. A drop in the ocean does matter.. because it is the identity of the ocean. Is it not? The world needs more people like you.

Thank you , Punam that is so sweet of you. I believe that every little act matters and has it's effect.
