Roses anyone ?

Some of my latest lot of paper roses....yummy !Honestly, these are getting so addictive :) This is my favourite one so far ! Last few days I've been trying my hand at making paper roses. There so many gorgeous ones online that I got totally smitten ! After many trials and many, many errors these are the lot I've made. Finally I think ,I'm happy with these. What do you think? Now that you've seen the roses I would love to hear your ideas on how I can use these.

Crocheted Bag

Another crocheted bag ! Yes, this seems to be a never ending story :).I fell in love with the bag my cousin had made. I have seen so many of these bags on ravelry too and had to give it a shot.

More paper roses

I was so happy to see that my last two roses were so much liked . I just had to try and tweak it around a bit to make yet another one a bit different...

And then I thought of making a tiny one with a little bit of colour on the edges. Here is the fourth one , so teeny it's less then an inch.

And finally , all my roses together. These are four different types. I'm hoping to make some more....need to get the colours to paint my petals. Until then ...I'm working on other flowers:)

Paper Roses

Did I tell you that I'm on a paper art frenzy these days. Even though I like making punch flowers , these days I'm into totally handmade roses. No punches, dyes or cutters. Plain old paper and scissors! This is the first of the roses :

I've used regular cardstock. The next one , I thought should be a bit different . Here it is :

Let me know what you think ? Which one do you ,like better. I'm open to suggestions. Please feel free you share your views.

Colourful Kusudamas

After seeing loads of beautiful Kusudamas online , I just had to give in and make some myself. There is a very peaceful feeling when you are folding these little colourful papers. As you can see I went on and on ...

And then only when all the papers were over did I stop. It was a breeze to make these pretty little cones once the folding part was done.

And then the flowers ...around 40 of them ! Told you, it's addictive. I'm afraid I will not be able to hold a square piece of paper in my hand ever again without turning it into a kusudama petal! Already the kitchen napkin , the dishcloth etc are getting their share.

And once the flowers are ready ..... just put them together you make a ball! And play around ...

The centres of the flowers were looking a bit empty so I filled them up with some pretty little pearls. And here they are all ready !!

I want to try out a few more of origami stuff but need to get more papers first. Can't wait to make more.

Crocheted baby set

I was totally smitten when I saw these cuties. I just had to make them and its a free pattern too. So generous of Naomi to share it. I picked up my hooks and yarn as soon as I saw this blog post. I worked with the cotton catania yarn that I had with me. A friend has had a little baby girl last week and I was looking forward to crocheting something for the little girl. Once the sandals were ready, I had to make something else to go with it. These little baby sandals led to the making of the rest of the baby set. And which little baby dress and sandal is complete without a hairband? Even little baby girls need accessories! This ensemble is all ready and packed. I hope the new mommy likes it.

Baby crochet

I crocheted this little dress for a new little baby. I can hardly wait to see the sweetie pie wearing it. And since the baby has her name begin with the letter 'V' , I decided to make her a Quilled one for her. I'm glad the parents loved both the gifts. This style of quilling is not my usual type. I do more of the dolls and 3D things but I did enjoy doing this one. So much that I think I'll just go ahead and do a few more of these. I have already started on another project using this technique and it is such fun. I'm always grateful for the feed back from my blog friends. Do let me know what you think.

My whole world in this little fella'

So proud of you, Jibran ! Keep up the great work. I'm having a proud Mommy moment :). Had to share it :) He got awarded for being the most versatile student and for topping in Maths and English in the Asset Exams.

A pretty little bag for a pretty little girl. I'm so glad my little friend liked it.

A card for Mom

Lil Bees's March kit is really beautiful. I loved the soft peaches and pink of the roses. There was a total rush of ideas ....they were coming faster than I could handle!! Anyways , finally this is what I came up with.
I'm also making a few more things with this kit....such possibilities with these papers and colors. And I'm looking forward to using the rest of the goodies that come with it.

Here is the close up of the quilled flowers. These are from Alli Bartovski's new book. And have used lacy square punch - I've been waiting to make something with it all this time. This is my first project with this kit. Please let me know what you think and would love to hear suggestions too from all the lovely card makers out there.

Crocheted bottle covers

Since I have not been posting a lot of crochet projects recently , it looks like I haven't been crocheting. Which is not at all true. Infact there is a lot of crocheting going on ....just not much blogging and uploading :). I hope to post about my recent crochet projects over the next few days. Here we go ...
Beige and turquoise bottle covers and matching glass covers made on custom order. These were easy and fun to make. The beaded edge gave it a better look.

Quilling for Jibran

This frame is for my son made in colours of his chioce and the font too. He wanted only the colours black, gold, silver and 2 shades of orange. Yes, he was very specific.
For a while now I've been thinking about making something for my little one. He thinks 'little one ' is an offensive term for a fully grown up 9 years old that he is. Well, sometimes I doubt there is a wise old man living inside him. Seriously, are all kids more grown up than their age or is it my imagination?
Anyways , he was very particular that I show him my final draft before sticking on all the elements. And as you can imagine , I had to make changes. He kept saying ..."Mom !! nothing loud please, just something quiet and elegant". Nine years old ??? Huh ...I doubt!

well, nice but ...lets brighten it up a little , shall we ?

The reaction to it? " NAH !!! Too bright ...needs to be toned down a few notches ...hmm? ?

So the finally we settled for this :

And thankfully he is very happy with it. This is my first time trying a bit of typography. I have learn't a bit in this project but there is so much, much more to learn. This has been fun.
