Quilled Tree Of Life

I have always loved trees. Taking pictures of them, drawing, painting, crocheting , quilling and even just looking at them. Each one seems to have a soul, a story ! Here is a quilled tree. This is a very special project to me . I loved making it, every minute of it was fun. It took a long time to make but it was one of those projects that you don't mind spending time on. The trunk of the tree took a long time to make and being a slow worker does not help. The leaves are in 2 or 3 tones of green so that took a good deal of time too. But i feel that end result was all worth the time and effort spent. This piece is A3 size and probably onr of my biggest quilled projects yet.

Quilled Frames

I am in love with my Martha Stewart scoring board. I just finished making 8 boxes and it was a breeze. They turned out perfect ans it felt like such a treat.A life saver really. I made these frames for an order as gifts for teachers. It was a mad rush order as I was busy with so much happening and visitors , guests etc.I has only 3 days to do it all. I was hoping that it would be liked .I was very happy when my client was thrilled to bits to see them. Makes all the efforts worth it.

Card with Quilling

This is the first time I joined a card swap....and it was such fun. The theme was fancy folds feminine card. I realised that getting those tricky folds is no kids play. The importance of right measurements and precise cutting has finally dawned on me. I tried to make a card with a some sophisticated folds and how I crashed. After ruining plenty of good cardstock ( yup, dumb of me not to try it first with some scrap papers) I finally gave in and decided on a simple one. I have to admit I was not happy about it. Waiting for my scoreboard and then I will try afresh !! This is the card I finally made. I hope my swap partner likes it.

Preparing for the UAE National Day 2013

Did I tell you how beautiful the city of Al Ain looks all lighted up for the National Day celebrations? It's a treat to go around driving in the evenings. The pretty lights and decor all around is so cheerful. It inspires to create ... Another project in the theme of the UAE National day. Based on the colours of the flag ....all quilled ! It was fun doing this project but the tiny beehive was a killer. It is such a task to keep all the coils even and the same size especially when they are really tiny. Thats the part which took the longest. But I am happy with how it turned out. Looking forward to hearing from my friends how they like it. Here it is after the framing.
I was so excited to show this one I could not wait until the 2nd of December :). I just had to post these pictures.
