Crochet Snowflakes for christmas

I've been waiting for such a long time to make crocheted snowflakes. With so much going on there was hardly any time on hand to get started. But finally last couple of days were spent on the little pretties. Just the designs of the snowflakes are so pretty...I've always been fascinated by it. I wish someday I get see real snowfall. I've seen plenty of hail storms and those are not anything lacy....just cute little pebbles of ice. Here are some of the snowflakes I turned up :
And the final round -up. All the snowflakes together :

Preparing for the UAE National Day 2013

Did I tell you how beautiful the city of Al Ain looks all lighted up for the National Day celebrations? It's a treat to go around driving in the evenings. The pretty lights and decor all around is so cheerful. It inspires to create ... Another project in the theme of the UAE National day. Based on the colours of the flag ....all quilled ! It was fun doing this project but the tiny beehive was a killer. It is such a task to keep all the coils even and the same size especially when they are really tiny. Thats the part which took the longest. But I am happy with how it turned out. Looking forward to hearing from my friends how they like it. Here it is after the framing.
I was so excited to show this one I could not wait until the 2nd of December :). I just had to post these pictures.

Crocheted little bag

This is a handy sized bag / pouch ideal for fitting in a mobile phone, keys and a some little knick knacks. The colours are based on the U.A.E National flag. With the National Day just around the corner, on 2nd December, the mood is all set. The beautiful cities of U.A.E are all decorated with such pretty lights and the works. It's an inspiration to work on projects with the same theme. More such projects are on the way.

Crochet White and Turquoise baby dress

When it comes to baby clothes .....can anything be cuter than little girly stuff? I've always wished we could find such cute boy stuff too. Anyways, one can only hope :) This one is another baby dress whipped up by me based on some I've seen online. Once again , no pattern as such but the construction is pretty simple. Getting the stitch pattern in the right size was the tough part. This outfit is done in Garn Studio cotton Viscose yarn.I loved working with it and it gives a bit of a pearly glow to the dress. It is not seen in the picture. And of course I could not stop at just one. The other one is made in cotton baby yarn. There was also a matching hairband but I forgot to take the picture of it before giving it off. I'm so happy that my friend loved it and her little angel looked adorable in it.

Pink Ribbon Project

October is the month of the "Pink Ribbon" - the Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This cause is very dear to me because I have seen the pain of some of my closest friends and family too. Some of them are with us no more but fortunately there are a few who are the survivors of this disease. This quilled work my tribute to all those who are touched by it either by fighting it themselves or watching and supporting a loved one going through it. I will not mention names here but those of my friends who I mean will know .... Often I have been asked to make tutorials of my projects. I don't end up doping that but now I have started taking pictures of my work in progress. I hope this is helpful for those who want an idea of how I worked on it. It is a simple enough project ...but very special to me. First off I started with the outline of the pink ribbon ....
and then came the filling in .....I've used the beehive technique.
and the just add the different elements as you like. Here are some of the pictures with details and different angles.

Crochet Princess Scallops Dress

I have been waiting to make this little dress for quite sometime now. But somehow life is getting busier and busier. Some of the projects are just just going down the list. Finally got a chance to make this one for my friend's little girl and I can tell you she looks absolutely adorable in it. The little hair clips just adds to the cuteness factor. And for my many friends who, like me, are interested in pattern sources.......this is not my pattern at all. I saw this on a Russian website and fell in love with it. It is easy enough to make without a pattern. I worked the bodice with solid dc and the skirt part is done in lacy scallops. If anybody could point out the original designer of this pattern I would like to mention her name and give credit for the pattern.

Crochet baby Tunic dress

A baby tunic dress in crochet. I loved working on this little set and really like the way it turned out. It's done in Bernat bay yarn and has an amazingly soft look and feel to it. I did not follow any particular pattern...basically tried ti get the right shape and size. Basically it is a little variation on my earlier baby dress made for baby V. I had initially thought of adding bows and ribbon to it but then decided that the little bunches of flowers looked better. This was requested by a very dear friend and I am so glad that she loved it.

Quilled Name Frame

Its been a really long time since any updates here. No I have not been lazy or idle in fact quite the opposite ! I have been working away like crazy and there is a whole lot of things to show.
But I'll begin with the latest. This one is a custom order made for a dear friend. It's a name done in Quilling. This kind of work is called Quilled Typography. I have posted sneak peaks of this project while I was working on it and it was really wonderful to have such a positive feed back from all my friends on Facebook. Really such a motivation and boost . I have been working lately on many quilled Frames and wall arts but cannot share the pictures just yet. This request came in unexpectedly and thoroughly enjoyed working on this piece. It took me 30+ hours to finish this....I know I'm a slow worker. I seriously admire those of you out there who do wonderful work in such short time. So many friends have asked to see the process , so here are some pictures which I took while working on this project. I started off with the letters first. that took the longest time. I forgot to take pictures of it . But the rest are here...
And then as I went on to add more colours and do the filling in ...
This getting to be a picture heavy post ....
And Finally it is all done ....needs framing of course.
I hope my friend like it. Always a little nervous until the order is delivered and to the satisfaction. Wish me luck .

Tissue cover

A white lacy tissue cover done in cotton thread . It was requested by a friend. It has a wedding feel to it, I think - do you think so too? Maybe the white lace and the pink flowers give the feel....I don't know ! Anyways , I hope my friend likes it. Another crochet project on the hooks which I think is just so cute. I'll post it soon.

Alteration with Quilling

And a close up of the quilling ....

I enjoyed the up cycling of this box yesterday so much that I decided to go ahead and make yet another one. The last one I made had a handmade rose by me and some die cuts. Here I decided to go with all quilling elements. I made the little African violets as toppers for this box. All in all , I think I'm going to 'alter' or 'up-cycle' stuff around the house ...my family better watch out !

A box decorated ...2

This was post was supposed to come right after the previous post but for some reason it did not appear so I am re posting it. I decided to use the flowers to decorate a box when I saw this post by Pritesh. Ofcourse, I did not actually make a box but had one lying around which I had intended to decorate for quite sometime. It's a simple one but I'm learning. This is the first time I'm trying this and I'm also entering it for a challenge at snehal's blog. I know there are such lovely and creative entries out there but I like to join in the fun. It's the best way to learn, I feel.

A box decorated

After making the roses ...as you can see I went on and on...
I was given a few very nice suggestions how to use them. And I'm on those ideas but one at a time. A couple of more flowers in the mean while ..
